Description: SAP-033 is a compass found in a shipwreck off the coast of Spitsbergen. The compass needle points in seemingly random directions, though most often points south. No patterns have been observed of the compass otherwise. The compass needle is magnetic, and would normally point north. SAP-003 seems to defy logic in the ways it’s needle points. The directions that the needle point in lead to each other eventually, if someone were to follow it’s directions.
People have been noted to experience vivid and realistic hallucinations when in close proximity to SAP-033. Most hallucinations have something to do with the Repository or with other anomalies, and generally have a nightmarish theme.
Aftermath Protocols: SAP-033 is locked in a clear glass case at Site 15. Archivists are to observe it’s behavior without interfering, and they take shifts watching it. Notes on SAP-033 are kept on the main site database and compiled in a txt file. If any effects on the surroundings of SAP-033 are observed, they must be written in a separate document that will be sent to the Site Director by mail. Anything noted that defies the DANGER Level and/or Divergent Class must immediately be updated on this file.
Discovery: In 1957, when the Repository had many people stationed in Spitsbergen (due to it being very remote), researchers had noticed a wooden craft not too far from the coast. The craft was not very big, but it did have a trapdoor into a very small lower half. In the lower half, there was a box with different cards with various names on them, two leather boots, and a deceased man of unknown origin holding SAP-033. The man was buried and staff had a quick funeral for him. All of the items were taken to the main cabin to be looked at, and most of the results had show that most of the items were non-anomalous. SAP-033 seemed normal at first, until the researchers noticed that the compass wasn’t pointing north. From then on, it has been kept and observed by the Repository.

TS-███ is brought into a room with SAP-033 next to them.
They later described how they were feeling in that moment as “having bubbles in their head”.
TS-███ continued to stare at SAP-033 for ~20 minutes, until they were removed from the room and regained consciousness.
TS-███ says that they saw themselves, in the same room, alone. They were rotting away while no one around seemed to care. When the Repository finally came back to check on them, they were dead.
Luckily, none of this has happened. After these events,
TS-███ eventually had to seek mental help (provided by the Repository).
