DESCRIPTION:
Each SAP-002 designates ten (10) roughly identical masks originating from the 17th century and resembling physicians' ("Plague doctors") masks of that period. SAP-002 instances can be accurately described as being composed predominantly of waxed leather obtained from an unknown member of the family Bovidae. Each mask bears two (2) one (1) centimeter thick lenses composed of an unidentified crystalline material holding a faint red tint but otherwise transparent. Each mask includes two (2) leather straps outfitted as buckles on the backside of the object. Finally, the hollow conical extension of the mask's faceplate (Commonly referred to as the "Beak") used as a rudimentary air filter also possesses two (2) millimeter wide holes positioned on symmetrical sides of the underside of the protrusion. The metaphysical effects of an SAP-002 instance most commonly occur (or have been noted to occur most frequently) when an individual observes the environment through the object's lenses. Individuals will claim to be able to perceive abnormalities (currently present or otherwise) or metaphysical phenomena at a greater height and understanding than is observed generally in standard individuals. The exact perceptions caused by the instances are frequently described as exaggerated and disturbing. Specialists have given the opinion that the perceptions seen could very well not be exaggerations, but rather instances of an understanding of the metaphysical to a degree not yet documented. Prolonged exposure (primarily skin contact) to an SAP-002 instance will most often result in one or more of the following physical symptoms:
- Fusing of the inner portion of the mask to the individual's epidermal layer, most commonly the individual's face. Corrective surgeries to allow regular food and liquid consumption for these individuals has been considered.
- General and gradual loss of intense amounts of body fat and extreme full-body hypopigmentation, severe cases resembling albinism.
- Abnormal lengthening of the individual's phalanges, commonly following a thin layer black, flexible scar tissue forming over the skin of the individual's forearms and hands. During drastic cases, the phalanges will break through the tips of the fingers and the aforementioned scar tissue will proceed to envelope the exposed bone. The scar tissue has also been known to allow the extension of the nerves through the scar tissue itself.
These particular processes have collectively been titled
'Aberrating'
Finally, SAP-002 instances have been observed to project an (assumably) psychological effect on persons perceiving an individual wearing an instance of SAP-002. The perceiving person will gradually forget details of the individual's identity concurrent with the length of time that individual has worn an SAP-002 instance. However, these events will only take action after the individual bearing an SAP-002 instance has left the perceiving person's line of eyesight for longer than two(2) minutes. Individuals who have utilized an SAP-002 instance for a prolonged amount of time will often be completely forgotten by perceiving persons after only one(1) minute of absence. Furthermore, this effect often extends to any information (physical, digital or verbal) perpetrated or relayed by the individual wearing the object. There have been relatively few cases of persons with which are partially or completely unaffected by this (Most of which include other users of SAP-002 instances and persons who have been witness to anomalous events), though those that are, unless under express situations, are to be obtained for study and consult.
MANAGEMENT TACTICS:
As of time of writing, nine(9) of the ten(10) instances of SAP- 002 have been allocated to the nine (9) respective members of the Apocrypha Council. The tenth (10th) mask has been granted to Dr. Bachman for experimental purposes. Dr. Bachman has been granted necessary clearance to one (1) SAP-002 instance under the pretense of attempting replicative experimentation. If successful, replicated instances will be dispersed among Warnen members, excluding a select few.
No further Management Tactics have been deemed necessary at this time.
