Item#: SAP-016
Danger Level: Green
Divergent Class: Animalia
Description: SAP-016 is the designation given to a male foal (Equus ferus caballus) of an unidentified breed. Physically, it does not display any anomalies, nor does it exhibit drastic behavioral anomalies. SAP-016 is commonly described by researchers as quite energetic and playful.
SAP-016’s anomalous abilities manifest under specific conditions, primarily when consuming birds. To describe SAP-016’s anomalous characteristics, it is important to note that it has an omnivorous diet, being able to feed on vegetation and hay like normal horses, as well as meat, specifically from birds. The reason behind SAP-016's inherent need to consume only birds is unknown, as it refuses to eat other types of meat. While SAP-016 can consume appropriate foods for horses, these do not seem to provide any notable nutritional value, nor do they activate its anomalous abilities; only avian meat has both effects.
When SAP-016 consumes meat from a bird, two bony protrusions will materialize on its back, resembling and functioning as wings. These ‘wings’ materialize as part of SAP-016; examinations have shown that SAP-016’s anatomy is modified to include the wings as part of its form. The wings vary in size and appearance, always resembling those of the bird SAP-016 previously consumed. Similarly, the size differs depending on the bird, adjusting to a size proportional to that of SAP-016 itself.
Most wings are functional and suitable for flight, allowing SAP-016 to move through the air. SAP-016 demonstrates great speed and maneuverability in the air, showing apparent knowledge and prior experience in this activity. Overall, SAP-016 has no difficulty flying.
SAP-016 loses its wings after a few hours, usually once the digestion process of the bird’s meat has completed, and it has been excreted as fecal matter. When this occurs, SAP-016’s wings dematerialize.
According to personnel observations, when SAP-016 materializes its wings, it exhibits even more energetic and joyful behavior, becoming more playful and hyperactive than usual. In contrast, when its wings dematerialize, SAP-016 shows sad and lamenting behavior, appearing 'disappointed'.
Aftermath Protocols: SAP-016 is to be kept in a stable at Site-14. The stable must be located in an enclosed area with a mesh overhead to prevent airborne escape incidents. SAP-016 is to be fed daily with hay and avian meat; for all other procedures, the standard care protocols used for domestic animals of its kind should be followed.
Discovery: SAP-016 was discovered on February 3, 1978, in Eryri National Park, Wales, United Kingdom, after multiple reports from visitors who claimed to have sighted and encountered "unicorns, pegasi, and winged horses" throughout the area. After intercepting these reports, the Repository sent a team to investigate the area and capture any possible anomaly.
During the investigation, patterns and traces were found indicating the existence of a native equine, along with multiple feathers. The evidence suggested the presence of a herd of approximately 20 to 50 specimens.
As the investigation continued, a provisional camp was found, containing empty corrals and recently abandoned tents. Inside one of the corrals, a small winged foal was discovered, which had access to water and food consisting of raw chicken meat. The entity was contained without issues, and one of the Repository's associated companies handled the cover-up of the events.
Further investigations conducted in the enclosures where SAP-016 was found revealed a series of small laboratories and operational bases near the camp. Among other items (provisions, food, reports of interest, notes, etc.), a seal was discovered on the notes and files. This seal was identified as belonging to the group of interest "Protectors of Gaia".
Addendum 016.A: In the days following the securing of SAP-016's original discovery site, security mechanisms were triggered, alerting and deploying the team present to the enclosure area of the facility.
Summarizing the events, no intruders or similar were found, aside from reports of footprints indicating the intrusion of an unknown subject. However, in one of the enclosures, a handwritten note in English was found, pinned to one of the supports with a multi-tool knife. The content of the note is as follows:
This is the last straw.
I came here excited to investigate and add information about "Pegasi" to my notes and journals. I heard they had been spotted in this park, so I came as quickly as I could, but it was all in vain. My research won’t happen because some geniuses took the specimens and abandoned the place.
Damn, do you know how hard it is to find pegasi and unicorns these days? Those species are nearly extinct! I can't even determine what kind of pegasi they were, and that leaves me with so many questions: What is their structure like? What are their habits? What is their nature? And most importantly, I wonder what kind of pegasi they were… Could they be the ones that biologically have feathers? Or maybe the ones whose feathers are actually complex formations of fur? Or were they the ones with lepidopteran wings instead? There are just too many possibilities. And this was my best chance to study this equine for my list of creatures… It's much easier to research Oricuernos or Kelpie, even damn unicorns are easier to find…
What I'm trying to say is, this was a golden opportunity to investigate… and of course, it had to be those Gaia idiots who took them because of their stupid "no humans and anomalies" policy. They hinder the advancement of anomalous life documentation.
Anyway, this was just me venting my anger. I'm leaving, and I'll look for another lead on some other creature… maybe I’ll go document a shelled toad in the Americas.
