Profile: Patient-988 appears a man in his late 30s or possibly early 40s. Age is relatively obscured by inconsistencies in public records; multiple identification certificates containing contradicting information about the subject have been located, with none appearing to describe the individual with 100% accuracy. Conflicting details include those regarding height, age, eye color, and place of birth.
Background: Anderson has worked at various places of employment in the Western United States, most notably for GRRID Power Supply as a lead engineer in 1953. This the earliest event to which Patient-988's history can be reliably traced. It appears that during this period of time the individual accumulated a large sum of money and acted as a core component of the company's success. However, at some point between 1957 and 1959, Patient-988 would slowly lose control over his mental faculties, developing extreme paranoia. Delusions included the beliefs that, because of his talent and skill, he was a company target and that he would soon be abducted by the US government and forced to work on military projects. This instilled a deep fear of isolation within the subject, although despite this fact, he slowly became more withdrawn until he was fired from his position. Believing that his dismissal was part of an elaborate plot to erase his identity from mainstream society, Anderson would begin to hoard supplies at his house. Eventually, after being sighted wandering the streets at night (as to "check the perimeter") he was admitted into a nearby hospital for a psychological evaluation.
During his stay at the medical facility, Patient-988 would express his concern that he was secretly being monitored by government agents and operatives. Although the on-site staff would insist that this was not true, their acknowledgement of his claims fed into his increasingly strong delusions. He would then be transported to the city's psychiatric ward. It was at this time that Patient-988 started to associate medical staff with his imagined CIA operation, claiming that he was being repressed by "them" and held against his will.
His mental state would begin to spiral out of control as he was placed under increasing restrictions, an event that would lead him to concluding that the nurses were undeniably secret agents deployed to keep him in check. Anderson was eventually committed to a permanent psychiatric institution.
At this point in time, possible due to elevated levels of stress, Patient-988 gained access to latent PSI abilities (specifically psychic gleaning). Hearing the thoughts of other (unwell) patients in his mind, as well as having brief, 1st-person glimpses into their sensory and emotional conditions, Anderson developed acute paranoia and displayed symptoms of bipolar depression.
Incident-1: One incident of anomalous interaction, which occurred in late 1965, contributed to the deterioration of the patient's mental state. Over the course of around a month, Anderson reported that he was receiving increasingly frequent visions. While he could not trace their origin, he believed that he was being watched by a headless, limbless body. Tormented by this thought, he would insist that it dwelt somewhere within the hospital walls. On 1965-December-14, Patient-988 entered a severely manic state, searching the ward by frantically opening and closing doors. This proved distracting to other patients undergoing rehabilitation, and he was eventually restrained. Patient-988 continued yelling for around 2 hours before entering a terrified state, claiming that the perceived entity was in the closet right behind him. One nurse eventually agreed to open to door in view of the restraining table. There, the nurse perceived the same being in a brightly lit room and began to scream, prompting more personnel to enter the quarters. Around 8 people observed the being before one of them slammed the door shut.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the being was no longer observable. After this this event, Anderson became much more paranoid and his symptoms worsened.
Anomalous Symptoms: Patient-988's mental instability is a result of natural conditions, however, it is reinforced by his psychic abilities. The individual is able to "overhear" the thoughts of others, and at certain times, to see out of others' eyes.
Aftermath Procedures: Should Patient-988 consistently claim the presence of any para-natural entities, such claims are to be legitimately investigated.
